What materials did you use? Simplicity 1693 view F for the pattern and polyester crepe in navy with ivory polka dots for fabric. Used single fold bias tape to finish the neck and armhole edges.

What are you most proud of? I've been trying to become a better sewist, so I really took my time with this project and followed all the advice I've been reading in my recently acquired sewing books. All the blog posts I have been reading on the Coletterie blog have been helpful as well, especially the post on sewing bias tape into a circle (in this case the armhole and neckline).

What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you are using a slippery fabric, try out spray fabric stabilizer! I have avoided using slippery fabrics in the past because of their difficult reputation. But after using the spray stabilizer the crepe was nice and stiff and easy to work with. The stabilizer was easily washed out and I ended up with a soft and drapey tank.

Your top is so nice!! Did you use bias tape for the arms and neckline or facings? I want to learn how to make bias tape.

Hello! The pattern said to use single fold bias tape, so I just used the kind in the package. But I have made bias tape before, and I used the bias tape makes you can find in the quilting section of craft stores. It wasn't as complicated as I thought it would be, so I would suggest trying it out. The first time I made it I ended up with 3/8" wide double fold bias tape, and it was a bit narrow for my taste, so I might suggest making 1/2" or even 3/4" for your first try.
