Sailing ships

Instructions

This used half square triangles and flying geese. Quilted with machine and by hand for seagulls

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Other

Style: Whimsical

Materials

A mixture of scraps, recycled shirt and quilting fabric

What was your inspiration?

After doing a simpler sailing boat pattern I found this one in a book for children's quilts and had to give it a go. Hated having to get all the lines on the sails going the right way. Next time I use plain fabric for that.
Loved how the quilting brought it out

What are you most proud of?

That it came together so nicely - in the end.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Maybe just use half square triangles except for the boat and water. Definitely don't use one way fabric for the sails. As you can see I still got one going the wrong way.

The boat looks cute although the wrong way of one triangle. You might make the upper one different color as a flag.
