Naughty Secretary Skirt

Finished skirt, and it fits!!

Finished skirt, and it fits!!
Finished installing the lining.

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Sewing Studio: Fashion Fitting, Home Decor & More »

Instructions

Next time I will use other fabric for lining!!!

Anti static lining is not what it states!!!

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Traditional, Classic

Materials

Light weight wool suiting for skirt and anti- static poly lining. I couldn't find the stretch poplin suggested in the class.

What was your inspiration?

Seeing the beautiful skirts others had posted from the class, some really nice fabrics!!

What are you most proud of?

That after struggling with installing the invisible zipper in my toile I persevered and it was easier in my final skirt. And my skirt really fits!!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Definitely make a toile and watch the video all the way through before starting the project!!

Don't you love this? "That after struggling with installing the invisible zipper in my toile I persevered and it was easier in my final skirt." That's how it always is! Congratulations!

Toiles are the secret to fit. I teach a pencil skirt class with an invisible zipper and see how new sewers struggle with installing them, I think they are easiest zipper to insert once you learn the basic techniques. Wouldn't you agree? Yours look wonderful, skirt and lining are very well done. Brava!

And I just noticed... it's so great to see such nice seams. It's always sad to see buckled seems from a new sewer bcs of tension issues. But yours look great!

Lovely fabric. Very classic texture with a soft and elegant sheen. . Fits nicely, too! WTG, Hon!

Thanks saxostamper, I might have to buy the poplin lining online, I definitely won't use the poly lining again.

Davesmom, I am familiar with the anti static spray but the static still builds up over time, maybe I will have to carry the spray with me!!!

Oh this looks super, I had to laugh I had the same with my lining - it is not anti static. I could not find poplin either - nice job.

Your skirt is lovely, And your choice of fabric is great. There is an anti static spray you can buy and spray on the lining before wearing each time. I am almost finished my first lined skirt. The invisible zipper is awesome compared to the other kind!!! The regular zippers are the reason I don't sew, until now.

Beautiful work! I love working with wool, it's kinda "pliable"! What was wrong with the lining?

The lining is supposed to be anti static, I find it is already clinging I'm sure once the cold weather comes the static will be a problem
