Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Stitch & Slash »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Mod, Funky

Materials

Cotton backing and top fabrics. Polyester batting or wadding.

What was your inspiration?

The background was inspired by a table runner that a friend has. I was entering a challenge at my local Quilting group. I needed something that was quite different. I signed up for the Craftsy class of Stitch n Slash. I have not completed the course yet, but it did inspire me to produce this for our exhibition. Love it.

What are you most proud of?

I love the choice of colour and the variations of technique. The centre design really is wow

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Relax and enjoy. Every part of this project was a pleasure.

love this application! Did you use 2,3,4 layers of greens? And just appliqued them onto the surface? very, very cool. Anxious to see your next creation!

Thanks very much. I used 4 layers of green. I primarily did the sewing and cutting only handling the green work, cutting only the first 3 layers. Then I appliqued the design onto the background quilt and cut away the final layer of the green. This way it kept its integrity of shape and design.

Thanks Carol. This is the first online course I have embarked on. It may take me some time to get through it, but I know I am going to love it. I already do :)
