What was your inspiration?
I was learning how to do counterchange and was frustrated at not being able to find many non-feminine designs, and decided to try to make an owl. I made a smaller version, too, which adorns a washcloth-dispenser-bag. I made my owls to look like Australian Barn Owls because I get a bit tired of every owl design being a Horned Owl.
What are you most proud of?
The counterchange-within-counterchange section of the owl's face.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Counterchange works really well on straight across, up or diagonal lines, but it's not so easy to make a curve - I probably should have tried to design a house or something with simpler lines.
