What was your inspiration?

My friend, Naomi, is having her first baby at the age of 40 after IVF treatment, so this is going to be a really special baby (yes, I know, they're ALL special!) and I wanted to make her something unique. Although she has told me the sex of the baby, it's being kept a secret from everyone else, so I made this cot-size (crib-size) quilt in apple green, lemon, lilac and white so as not to give anyone any clues!

What are you most proud of?

I'm pleased with my free-motion quilting on this quilt. I found a You Tube video on which someone demonstrated quilting flowers and loops and, after a bit of practice on a spare piece of quilt sandwich kept for the purpose, I took a deep breath and went ahead, including a few hearts as well.

I went to see new baby George last week and his Mummy told me she'd washed the quilt already and it has come up all nice and soft. I was a bit concerned originally as the quilting seemed to make it a bit stiff, but I needn't have worried!

I had great fun playing around and quilting this - one of my few efforts at quilting a pattern. Thank you for your kind remarks!

So pretty, and the colors are so appealing. Your quilted flowers really create a theme for the quilt.

Beautiful! Such lovely, soft baby colors. The quilted daisies are wonderful and add so much to the design.

This is simply beautiful! The colors are gorgeous and your free motion quilting is truly incredible. The accuracy of the flowers and the hearts are exceptional, as if you have been free motion quilting those for many years!

Thank you, Tanya, that's such a kind thing to say and give me encouragement to try again ... and again ... and again!
