Mysterious Plum Purse

Hidden Money Pouch
Velcro to Hold Pourch in Place
Folded Flap Unsnaps
Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Holiday, Classic, Victorian / Steampunk, Traditional

Materials

Plum microsuede exterior, plum cotton batik lining, velcro, iron on stabilizer, bronze key fob and magnetic snaps. Wool penny medallions.

What was your inspiration?

I am inspired by Lois--a friend who travels all over the world. She said one of her biggest concerns is where to hide extra money, cards, and her passport. I built he a great travel tote with a hidden pocket in the side seam of the lining. One tiny button inside indicates the hidden pocket.

So here's a great plum purse idea--featuring a mystery pocket. Hope you like it.

What are you most proud of?

I like the asymetrical look of the flaps with wool penny medallions used to conceal snaps and pockets. A little pouch inside holds cards and folded money.

The hidden pouch has sewn-in velcro on the back, and its matching velcro strip inside the flap pocket holds everything in place. More velcro on the front tab, too.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Try sewing some hidden spots in your gear, clothing, or purses. I'd love to hear back from you.

I love that color purple. And, I love to make my own handbags. I am a bit off the beaten path with them, but...lol

Hi Charlotte--I want to thank you for your inspiring work in rope baskets. My mother and sister visited me recently and we all worked on large table platter and matching coasters. It was such a hit, I just mailed 400 ft. of rope to my Mom as she cannot find suitable rope in her area. My sister is making platters and coasters like crazy for Christmas presents. I know this is not on the same technical difficulty as your beautiful projects--but I wanted to point out how much I appreciated you getting me, my sister, and my Mom started in this exciting craft. Many thanks Charlotte. You're the best.
