What materials did you use? Our old front gate, Bricks (I cleaned) from our old front fence. Soil - lots of soil and manure and lime and worm castings.

What are you most proud of? The fact that it produces food for my family. We live in Melbourne, inner city. Our yard is not very big so I have tried to make veggie gardens that look attractive but are functional. This is only one of six small areas of the back yard that I have transformed over the years. My friends have beautiful back gardens with pools and Agaves and Yukkas and they look like they should be in a magazine. In my back garden you can relax and let your hair down.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Sit with a cup of coffee and think for awhile. It will come to you.

I like your advice about sitting with a cup of (iced) coffee and think for awhile. I live in the low desert in CA. That is something I've been doing, since it was too hot to garden in Aug and it did give me some time to realize a little better "design" for our yard.

I like it! The best garden is a producing one! I love time in the garden also. The fact that you can go to your garden and let your hair down is my style also. It is indeed a special place that you can make your own and see what happens! thanks for sharing! :)
