Materials

Fabric from my stash

What was your inspiration?

I like things to match. So I picked a few fabrics to use throughout instead of just grabbing random colors that I don't think look that good together.

What are you most proud of?

I'm pretty happy with all the month's blocks. My favorite ones may be the May blocks. I also like the March ones a lot.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Take your time. Don't rush the blocks cause it's more fun when you don't finish the blocks on the first day...then have to wait till the next month for more.

I love the colours the really make the blocks blend together. I particularly like the wonky log cabin - it looks like ours going down a black hole towards a diamond centre...love it!

My march is the same, so I just added a little border along two of the edges the squared it off to 12 1/2 "

On the March pinwheel block I didn't sew a scant 1/4" seam on the squares and rows so I ended up with a block that's just a tad too small, but I'm going to just fudge it when all the blocks get sewn together, unless I find that I can't, in which case, I'll have to redo the block.

I realized too late that the one edge of the red block is waaaay too narrow and when I sew them all together i'm going to lose that red edge, so I may redo that side with a wider strip and re-cut the square.
