My Not So Evil Twin Sister

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Curvy Knits: Plus-Size Knitting »

Instructions

long sleeved t-shirt is suggested, just remember, your shirt will become one with your duct tape body double. You will never wear the shirt again! :)

This does take some time, between measuring and taping and cutting it off of you. Also, my husband was pouring us margaritas at the time, so there was lots and lots of giggling. We had a lot of fun!

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Functional

For: Plus-sized

Style: Mod, Funky, Whimsical

Materials

duct tape, measuring tape, fiber fill and 2 friends

What was your inspiration?

I have several sweaters I had knit for myself with some really great ideas, yarn and patterns. They just never fit me the way I had envisioned. What a disappointment. :( When I first watched the videos for this course I knew I had a way to successfully knit for myself, not just socks and shawls, but real wearable knit just for me sweaters, cardigans and tops.

What are you most proud of?

Finally getting this part done.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Give yourself a break, have a "Girls Day In" and plan on having some fun with some friends. I think this will be a great tool in my Craft Studio. She sits there waiting patiently for me to begin planning my next best friend, a silk sweater knit to fit. Get up and do this, it is a wonderful way to see what you look like, and how to make clothes that will flatter your body!

I'm still pondering what I should name her. In our home, when someone does something questionable, they could blame it on their Evil Twin (with their named spelled backwards)But I think she's so pretty and helpful, she can't be my Evil Twin! :)

Several years ago I had read a story about women back in the 40's and 50's making their own dress dummies. I have always wanted to do this so I can make something that actually fit. I am proud of you!
