Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: I made a 2 layer base cake and placed a ball on top. Both cakes were first iced with buttercream icing and then covered in fondant. I marked lines on the base cake to resemble a gym floor and then sprayed it with black color mist to give it some color variation. The volleyball was created with the same procedure. I had some trouble making the pieces fit after they were cut following the pattern supplied with the ball cake pan and had to do some trimming. In the future I would also use a stiffer cake for the ball as the bottom did flatten slightly as it sat.
