What was your inspiration?
Our new house was devoid of any flowers. It came with a pond but the area around it was full of weeds and the yard was not welcoming. Love to be outdoors so with help from family and friends removed lots of overgrown bushes and wild honeysuckle. Now my yard feels much more like home. The sound of the pond's waterfall and our new garden makes my backyard my favorite place to be. We have a Blue Heron that likes to visit in the Spring and he's awesome to watch.
What are you most proud of?
I love the stone pathway that cuts through our garden and now surrounds the back of the pond. It's nice to walk through and I can view the garden from a number of different angles. Each week the garden changes with new blooms on a variety of different flowers.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Enjoy your garden it doesn't have to be designed with perfection like a commerical one. Plant what you like and check out the clearance sections, if like me, your on a tight budget. Many of these plants just need a little TLC and they will bounce back. Water... Water... Water. Always follow the planting instuctions regarding shade and sunlight, the right amount of sun is is necessary for growth. Enjoy!
