What was your inspiration?

Sarah was, really. She made me want to try hand applique for the first time ever. I bought a book once that is all hand applique quilts and I haven't even tried making any of them because I'm scared to try, but thanks to Sarah and this class, I feel like I can do it now.

What are you most proud of?

The entire wall hanging. I LOVE it. There was a moment when I couldn't decide which binding to use and I asked around and half the people said blue and half said orange. Ultimately I choose the blue because I really felt like the orange was just too much and too bright, and I really felt like the blue just worked somehow.

Also I'm pretty proud that after washing none of my appliqued pieces fell off... LOL. I was terrified that I was going to lift the washer lid and find pieces of applique everywhere.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just do it. Even if it's not perfect {mine's not either} it will still be beautiful.

Thanks. I messed up with the bias tapes, I was using scraps I had and they weren't really on the bias.. but it still managed to work. It's not perfect but I love it. And I really enjoy the applique thanks to you. AND I have just discovered your hand quilting how-to on YouTube and I am desperate to try that now too.

What a wonderful piece Penny! So bright, happy, cheerful. I'd make this a wall hanging for my "space" for sure. Gonna have to look into this - I've never heard of needle turn applique. Actually I know very little about any sort of applique. Time I joined another class! Thanks for the inspiration friend.

Awesome. I can't wait to see yours. I am working on the Not Quite a Beauty wall hanging now, working on the fourth block. Having trouble though because it's supposed to be scrappy and random but I am using coordinating fabrics.... LOL

Very nice & congrats on doing something new - always scary. I love hand applique, but mine just never turns out quite the way I'd like. I'm hearing so many good things about this class.

I think it's just that Sarah's enthusiasum is catching. And she's really very "hey, it doesn't have to be perfect, it's okay if it's wonky" and she really makes you feel like you can do it. I am realy glad that I have enrolled in the class. I guess I should write a review.. LOL
