Instructions

From a DVD workshop "Making Faces" with Maria Elkins.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Rock / Punk

Materials

Cotton fabrics (selfdyed), polyester threads different shades, Steam-a-seam Lite 2, Photo, Photoshop Elements.

What was your inspiration?

Maria Elkins and her different ways to make faces. My friend Elin, who is always awesome at photos and I'm pleased that she allowed me to borrow this one. I did a close up version, which I used in this quilt.

What are you most proud of?

The color choice.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I didn't like that the glue from the several layers of Steam-a-seam sticked to my needles. Thats why I didn't threadpaint it more and quilted it more as I intended from start. Maybe another steam-a-seam is better or I don't know what to do.

gorgeous. i purchased the the Maria Elkins "lets paint faces" too and I have been so afraid of making a quilt like this because I don't know how to sew but you have inspired me to give it the old college try. Thanks for sharing.

BabsK, you might also prefer the "Mistyfuse Ultraviolet" it is for items that will have more light exposure. Just a thought. :-)

BabsK, another beautiful piece & I really like the colors that you have chosen. As for your problem ... try this one. http://www.mistyfuse.com/ it is a lot lighter. Go take a look. You won't get any stiffness, but have to be careful not to over heat this product. It is really good for certain projects. Again, your artistry is Beautiful & thank you for sharing. :-)
