What materials did you use? I used #4 no name yarn from, ahem, Wal-Mart. I was trapped in the woods with no crafting store nearby! They didn't carry Lion's Brand. I thought it would still work, to practice my first sweater. It did, I made an XS, which fits beautifully.

What are you most proud of? I'm most proud of switching between continental and the "throwing" method of knitting. I'm using synthetic yarn (I know, I know), but for my first sweater, I didn't want to invest in a more pricey material (and it wasn't available). I'm excited to build the confidence to make things I'll be able to wear.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take it stitch by stitch....I didn't realize how easy beginning a sweater could be! I can't wait until I advance by using short rows to shape more flattering sweaters! This pattern is really easy so far. I finished the back within only 2 days.

I just cast on my first project last night. I'm very inspired by your sweaters. I'm basically a sewist, and always spend a lot of time getting the right fit. I have no idea how to do this with knitting. I, too, am starting with the inexpensive wool ease, but I have to say, for less than $20 for the whole thing, it's looking pretty good!

Thank you!

I loved that you replaced the stockinette with twisted knit stitch. It gives it a textured look. Did you do that to make it tighter? I really like the twisted stitch used throughout.

You have a very good eye, the twisted stitch is due to a beginner who didn't really know how to knit! I've since learned how to knit and purl the correct way, with the help of Patty Lyons.

Your sweater came out great! You have really made it look modern. I posted pictures of my cardigan today. Quite classic compared to yours. Nice job!!
