Hi Amy!, Thanks for the message. I started the whole thing again and even bought new yarn. I am much happier with the new lot. I am knitting the Large size and knitted the rib on size 4mm needles. I have finished that now and am knitting the stockinette stitch on size5mm needles. I am a slow knitter and have been ill and on holiday so I am rather behind in knitting. I love the design of this sweater, I've wanted to learn how to knit partly because I have such a hard time shopping for sweaters due to have severe tendinitis in my arms, and fibromyalgia, it makes me very sensitive to having any fabric around my arms from my elbows down. So I'm wondering if I would find it easy enough to modify this pattern (keeping in mind I'm a new knitter!) so that the sleeves end above the elbows, or are very baggy and loose around them.

So sorry for a very late response! [I don't think I get alerted to questions & things posted here...] If you're still interested-- yes, the sleeves can be easily modified to those specs. Just let me know!
