Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Knit Original Cuff-Down Socks »

Instructions

I used the Seaweed pattern given in the course materials

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Outdoorsy, Casual

Materials

100% wool, 5-ply I used teal on the main part of the sock and purple variegated yarn on the cuff and toe

What was your inspiration?

I have knitted several pairs of socks in the past six months just using plain ribbing and/or stockinette stitch. While they look nice and are functional, I wanted to try out a pattern too. When Donna showed this pattern in the class, I liked it and decided to try it out.

What are you most proud of?

I'm happy they socks turned out the same size!! (occasionally mine haven't) I'm also happy the pattern worked out well and I was able to make these on 2 circular needles instead of the dpn's. This is a first for me.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Believe you CAN do a pattern, for starters. This one is fairly simple, with just a 6-st repeat. Take your time and enjoy the process.

Your devotion to knitting shows! I, too, once used that seaweed pattern for a pair of fingerless mitts. I couldn't seem to "get with" the pattern sequence. :( Good for you to stick with it! Thanks for sharing. You are instigating the desire to pick up that project once again.

I'm glad. I'll be waiting to see a photo of your finished mitts :)

Thanks. By the way, your profile name gave me a bit of a start as my husband's name is Dave. Funny.
