Here are some details about my project:

What materials did you use? Wool/Polyester/Viscose fabric for the jacket, silk dupioni for the lining and silk thread. Washed both fabrics in cold water/gentle cycle. The jacket fabric is loosely woven and moves a lot. The original silk lining was light blue. I realized it was showing through after it had all been sewed in. Unpicked the whole jacket and started over again with an off white lining. I wonder if the extensive handling of the fabric distorted it or is it just my sewing that is not straight..I am not satisfied of the front opening and the bottom edge. That is why I did not highlight those areas with black ribbon. I do not plan on sending this jacket to the dry cleaner, I will wash it in cold water (silk/wool cycle).

What are you most proud of? I stuck with the project until the end. I enjoyed the class so much, I was motivated to continue and am glad I did.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Examine your fabric, place your lining against it and verify if you can see the lining through the fabric. Having done the lining twice, I am afraid the jacket is a bit crooked.

One more thing I should mention; I serged every piece of the jacket fabric before I started sewing it together and glad I did as it frayed easily.

This is so pretty and you've worked so hard - I'm glad you didn't give up. Thanks for the advice about the lining. Well done.

Thank you Lorna, I enjoyed your class very much. I learned a lot. I will take it again this fall with a new Iconic jacket I have in mind. Now it's almost gardening season here! Hope to see you again in another class. Linda.

What a wonderful surprise to receive a compliment on my jacket. I just saw yours and I must say it's perfect. I can appreciate the precision work that went into that beautiful unique piece you made. Looks like we both will be making a second one. Mine will be in the fall/winter. Many thanks! Linda
