Quilting: My first completed lap quilt

My first completed lap quilt

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Scrap Quilting »

Instructions

I designed it on paper first as Pepper does. It is made up of 12 nine patch blocks and 5 applique hearts plus plain spot squares.

I backed it with fleece as I thought it would be more cosy.

I used the machine sewn binding technique and have learnt a lot of what not to do

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Materials

Cottons and cotton /polyester blends from my stash for the front. Pink fleece for the backing (also from my stash!) and quite a deep wadding I bought for some reason a few years ago ;-)

Is this your project? Tell us more!

It's difficult to believe that that's your very first quilt - it's lovely! Well done! I really like the little appliqued hearts. I'm very happy to see you're becoming as addicted to quilting as I am. My house is never clean or tidy nowadays and everyone who visits goes home covered in thread and cat's hairs!

Thank you. It gets regular use when I am watching telly on an evening. I got the idea out of an old book I have about using country fabrics around the house! x

it's nice and warm on the legs when the house is a bit cold but you don't want to light the fire. It is unseasonly cold in Britaiin at the moment ! x

Well, it looks like you have joined our club. We all think this is the best thing since sliced bread. The only thing we haven't been able to find is more time to make all we want to make. Have fun & again, Thanks for sharing.

Thank you and I am having fun. I have dabbled with knitting, crochet, stencilling and many more things but I have never been hooked like this! x
