What was your inspiration?

updated info 1/3/13:

The pattern from Lion Brand. Then I modified it in length because I envisioned an BIG, cozy cowl that I could double up. I crochet BIG, so I went down to an "I" hook, chained 47 like the pattern says, and then I crocheted 110 rows before crocheting the ends together. The pattern says to crochet for 50 inches, but I just kept going because I wanted it long & able to double up easily without it choking me. It is SO cozy!

What are you most proud of?

Finishing this huge cowl! And it is really my go-to favorite! I double it up and it's like wearing a mama's hug, it is that warm and sweet. :)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be creative...use the simple stitch pattern (sc in blo) and make your own favorite cowl! Yay!

I am a beginner at crochet. I just get the hang of it, then don't do it for a long time and have to teach myself all over again! But I LOVE this!!! Thanks for putting in up! I'm going to make it!

Good morning! I love your enthusiasm! This is such an easy project, and works up so quickly. Some crocheters might get a little bored with the very simple stitch pattern, but I found it makes the perfect tv project, or even while my husband drives us around on errands. (This way I let him drive AND don't pick on his driving--because I'm just crocheting along. lol)

You're welcome! It really is my favorite thing to throw on before leaving the house. So cozy. Like your favorite jeans or fuzzy pajamas. Pure comfort. :)

Could you share how you modified it? I would love to create a big chunky one like the one you have!

Yes! It was such a simple mod I can't even call it that. Looks like I went down a hook size or two, because I crochet loose! So an "I" I believe. Chained 47 like the pattern, and then made it suuuuper long. I counted 110 rows before I crocheted the ends together. From now on, I'm making notes when I made anything. (Also, I crochet big, so I often have to make minor adjustments.) This is sooo easy, you'l have fun. If you can find that yarn, it is AWESOME (JoAnn's Fabrics was where I got the Sensations chunky yarn). Soooo soft and with the tiniest halo effect, like fuzzy without the pilling (so far, anyway).

This is so beautiful! I want to reach out and touch it. You mentioned it's a Lion Brand pattern; which one? I couldn't find it. Thanks for posting!

Thank you! It feels unbelievable on! This yarn is machine wash & dry, and gets softer and softer, yet holds its shape. Not bad for inexpensive stuff!
