Quilting: My Daughter's Quilt

My Daughter's Quilt

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Girls

Style: Classic

Materials

Leftover fabrics from my stash and some additional fabrics my little daughter chose at the store. The hand-embroidered butterflies were from a tattered tablecloth that I couldn't let grandpa throw out (eventhough it had holes and stains) so I salvaged the embroidery work, cleaned it, stabilized it and sewed it into quilt blocks.

What was your inspiration?

Grandma's old tablecloth, my daughter's love of pink, pink, more pink---okay and some purple too--and Disney princesses.

What are you most proud of?

Saving the important parts of grandma's handwork.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Hand-wash the old linens first then stablize all embroidery knots with fray-check so it doesn't come apart.

So sweet and feminine! It looks and sounds like you have a very precious girly-girl. Love the salvaging of Grandma's tablecloth. Such a touching remembrance for your daughter.

Thank you. After 3 boys, it is fun to have a girly-girl Princess! I thought saving the tablecloth was nice too--especially since grandma passed before meeting my sweetie. They both loved pink and I know grandma would treasure our Princess.
