My cosmetic bag

Make It

This project was made from an independent Craftsy designer's pattern:
Quilted Cosmetic Case / Ditty Bag »

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Cute, Retro / Vintage, Whimsical

Materials

Cotton, quilt stash

What was your inspiration?

To make Christmas gifts for family and friends. My personal goal was to use up my quilting fabric stash and use all my 'stuff' like ribbon, zippers and thread.

What are you most proud of?

I was able to practice my free motion quiliting; stippling and design. Also, I was so jazzed that I doctored up plain white and black ribbon with fancy stitches that are programed in my machine...I was even impressed. I had a blast. My next design is to practice my crazy quilt skill and turn it into a bag.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I broke several needles when I stitched the bag closed over folds. So I now I switched to a jean needle and that seemed to work. Also, I used binding to give my inside seams a finished look. I am pleased. <

Love your idea of stitching the ribbon! Looks familiar! Viking Sapphire! :) I love this project too - so fast and can use scraps. I use the binding too, makes a great finished look!
