What was your inspiration?
My daughter loved the 1st heart quilt I made as a high school graduation present for her friend. So she asked me to make her the same pattern for her high school graduation a year later. I used some leftover fabrics from the 1st quilt, and added some new ones.
What are you most proud of?
I machine appliqued the hearts, instead of hand-appliqueing like I did the first time. It was SO much faster, and I liked the way it looked.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
This was my first attempt at machine applique. I used Steam-A-Seam light, and removed the center of the hearts (so there was just about 1/2 to 3/4-inch of Steam-A-Seam around the edge of each heart) before applying to the fabric so the hearts wouldn't be stiff. It took a little more time, but was worth it.
