What are you most proud of? Matching the print up and my hand picked zipper was almost perfect - this is my 4th hand picked zipper. Making a dress using couture techniques that was still very light and will be comfotable and cool to wear in a hot and humid enviroment.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Work through each step slowly - trying to rush will spoil the project. Spend adequate time "getting to know your fashion fabric" particularly if you are working with a patterned fabric.

Pretty dress. That would be nice to put a sweater over for spring as well. I just signed up for the class, looking forward to getting started.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments - Mum is very pleased with the dress and does have a short sleeved cotton cardi to wear with it. I am not so happy with the fit at the bust and midrift but Mum wouldn't let me do to much fitting in the muslin stage and I didnt want to do too many changes at the fashion fabric stage so as not to ruin my pattern matching. I have still not got back to my original dress for this project ... I think I am a bit scared of doing the sleeves.

I live in the Philippine and have also always been bothered by the idea of having 3 layers in a dress when it is so hot here. Because of this course, I have started underlining my dresses with thin cotton batiste. I can't get any silk here to use for either lining or underlining, and as I don't wear stockings in this heat, there is nothing for the dress to stick too, so I figure I don't need a slippery lining to make the garment hang better. I have found that underling helps with perspiration stains, as there is more fabric to soak it all up, and also helps lessen the creases you get in natural fabrics in hot and humid climates! Love the dress and am sure your mom will feel really comfortable in it.
