What was your inspiration?
This cake was made especially for the Canal Walk Bridal Fair Cake competition 2013, in which it took 2nd place! All photos by Erindipity Photography by Jess Commaille. The theme was 'Love and Romance' The actual cake inside is fake (styrofoam) but the decor and figurines are all icing. The idea behind the cake was inspired by the "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" story. I was reading the book to my son at the time and I decided that because Mr Wonka never had any family in the story, I thought it would be a fun idea to give him a wife! The actual cake is a fashion cake, with edible gold lace and purple and orange pleats. The cake represents an open chocolate wrapper (the pleats) revealing the golden ticket (the lace).
What are you most proud of?
I was extremely happy to have achieved the bright gold look on the lace, exactly how i had planned it!
