What was your inspiration?

A caterpillar themed party for a little cuties 1st birthday. Hmmm, well my thought for this were basically formed around three or four pitures of cakes that the mother had found online showing a caterpillar on top and well, that was about it. So...I tecd to think literally with the scenario so my first thought was "well, I just say a caterpillar on a branch this morning when I went to waater my lawn" LOL so why not make it a more fun literal caterpillar cake for a little boy by adding little branches and leaves... ;o)

What are you most proud of?

I liked my twigs actually....and trying not to make the caterpillars not look creepy - now that was hard...tee hee but then I'm a little odd so who knows, it may have just been my twisted sense of humor.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make sure that you play ahead of your due date, with the chocolate/candy melts and light corn syrup ratios. I was originally taught to use 1/3 cup to 1 lbs of melts...well I changed that down to 1/4 c to 1 lbs....and to be honest, I think I might even make it a little less due to the stability of the modeling chocolate. I found it still a little to soft too quickly - but that is me...find what works best for you...trial & error!
