Hello noelseas, Welcome to Perspective in Landscape Drawing. This is a fine first drawing. Would you give some more information on this assignment? For example, what are the dimensions of the sketch, is the paper white or off-white, did you work from nature or from a reference image? If you did work from a reference image could you post it as well? Whether or not you are able to post the requested information, I will respond further soon.

Hello noelseas, Will continue my commentary without your information. Perhaps you are too busy to respond because you are drawing so much. As mentioned before, this is a fine first effort. There is much that gives this drawing its spatial structure: The placement of the eye-level line, the use of detail, the diminishment of detail, contrast, and tone. Well done. I look forward to seeing the post of your next drawing.

I apologize for taking so long to respond. I have been working and sketching during my lunch breaks. The sketch I posted is from my head.I had no pictures of reference. I know it's a bit off balance. But as I began to sketch I was fascinated with the rocks, everything else was an after thought, as you can see from the background mountains.Thank you for your input...There is a park near where I work that has a lake. One evening I am going to stop and see what I can capture. Hoping yo learn much from you...oh, and the paper I was using was an 8x5 sketch pad off white. A Dixon Ticonderoga black 2HB pencil (my favorite).
