Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: I made the Gum paste Orchids following James's instructions and sculpted my first cake following Lauren Kitchen's and other sculpting teachers classes and I tried Fondant techniques I also learned on craftsy. The gum paste orchids were a challenge because my cutters were too small so I had to use lily cutters instead, which looked the same to me. Also my Wilton veiner was smaller then my petals so I had to do half the petal at one time and then the other half. After putting the two flowers and leaves togeter I found out the wire was not strong enough to stand up the weight so I had to add an 18 gauge wire to it for added strength. They turned out great. I added modeling chocolate under the fondant to create the edgings and lip on the pot. Lauren Kitchens taught that technique. Thanks Craftsy!
