What materials did you use? Cotton commercial print fabric, monofilament thread, fusible web, poly-blend thread, cotton batting

What are you most proud of? I was able to successfully use monofilament thread for the first time after many previous attempts - I had just about given up on ever being able to use it. I was also amazed at how emotional she was when she opened it (she lives hundreds of miles from us). To know that something that I enjoy doing brought joy to someone else was such a great feeling.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't get caught up of trying to replicate something exactly. Go with the flow - the end result is always better than what we could have achieved no matter how meticulously planned out the project is at the start..

This just touched my heart in so many ways - what a wonderful, beautiful tribute to this mother. Such a precious gift I could not have imagined receiving. I wish I had a photo of my husband and his mother I could do this with because he had such a beautiful relationship with his mom and she was an angel. I loved her to pieces. Beautifully done!

Hi LadyAutumn, I'm so glad you enjoyed this. I can't tell you how overwhelmed she was when she received it. She is such a remarkable women - a four-time cancer survivor and a wonderful mom and grandmother.

I'm sorry you didn't win because this was really the very best entry and should have taken the honors, in my humble opinion. It says so much more than words could ever convey!

This is literally breathtaking-- I gasped in awe and emotion upon seeing it. I'm not surprised your MIL was emotional when she opened it, it is truly a gift of love. What a lovely tribute, and a spectacular work of art. You blew me away.
