I made this cake for my mother for Mother's Day. I used fondant, gum paste, buttercream icing, candy pearls and white cake.
What was your inspiration?
I really wanted to make some of the gum paste flowers from Jacqueline Butler's course. I also had wanted to do a cake with quilting, so when my Mom asked if she could have a cake for her 90th birthday(which isn't for another year), I decided to surprise her with this for Mother's Day. She has put the flowers in a vase on her coffee table.
What are you most proud of?
The bouquet.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Make more flowers than you think you need.
