What materials did you use? Yellow Cotton Print with Science Theme. Working Title is Science Friday Quilt. Queen Size Improvisational Block Quilt in Ivory, Yellow, Lime Green, and Black. Ah yeah, a bit of Gray too.

What are you most proud of? It is fun to improvise each block. I draw lines with Frixion pen to split squares into pie slices, smaller squares, and circles. Getting the hang of using quilt rulers. Still making lots of mistakes. I set the long arm Regulated Stitch for 11 stitches per inch--big enough to pick out stitch boo-boos. Oh yeah, doing lots of pickin'. While I've been practicing this month--I devoured 3 Karen McTavish's books with DVDs--demonstrating how she uses rulers. Very good lessons.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? TIP: Picking Out Stitches When you have to pick out stitches and afterwards can still see the needle holes, use a semi-damp sponge and pounce it a bit. Usually does a pretty good job of diminishing the needle holes as it dries.

Your stitches are beautiful, and your quilting designs look great. Love the different designs, so different yet the play so nicely with each other!

More great stitching, Shoestring! I like updates so feel free to post progress. I'm living vicariously through you and your long arm. The stitching looks great.

Hi my friend TanjaH. I know you live in Wisconsin and I hope you'll want to take a trip sometime to visit me and try out the long arm. Just let me know when.

Ooh, I would love to play with your long arm! Im having a staring contest with my latest quilt. It's a king size and the largest quilt i've made so far. i considered hand stitching it, but i decided that I don't wanna. So we'll see who wins.

Oh, wow! Oh my goodness!! Shoestring, I've bowled over! The work seems so effortless,, as if you'd been stitching on this machine for years and years!

Hey there 2strings. Thanks for the encouragement. I have lots to learn about doing feathers. The feathered circle I traced onto the quilt. But I'll be practicing those darn feathers free-hand later. They just intimidate me right now. Uf-dah!
