What materials did you use? Lake Blues and Greens printed cotton fabrics with ivory cotton sash and border.

What are you most proud of? I'm enjoying the "feel" and "look" of the tear drop fill. Easy to rotate and navigate to cover the large sash areas. Quilting each color square in a different, improvisational pattern happens so fast. Anybody out there a fan of zentangle? Very relaxing, quick, and creative.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Zentangle: Check out available online YouTube videos about "Zentangle." You'll be amazed how much similarity there is between free motion quilting and zentangle drawing. It will inspire you. Sewing/Crafting Books: The two main fabric stores where I shop have 40% off one item coupons almost weekly. Its a great way treat yourself to book.

Beautiful! Cream was a great "white space" choice. Thanks for the zentangle tip. I wonder kind of batting you used--it seems a little thicker and springer.

Hi BeesKneesGranny. Thanks for taking the time to write me a note. I am using Warm and Natural 100% cotton batting. It comes in 21ft. rolls. The batting when unfolded is 90" wide, perfect for queen size quilts. I can "feel" the low loft, and was careful to turn on lights as I photographed the quilt blocks at a slight angle. The stitch design is revealed better doing that. The poly batting is lighter weight and has slightly more loft than cotton batting. After winter's over, I'll let you know which batting was "warmer." I know there are several deeper loft poly battings--but I haven't tried them.

Just took my first class on free form quilting. It's got me motivated to really practice and do a nice quilt. You free form quilt is beautiful with feathers and spirals.
