What was your inspiration?
The beauty of butterflies.
What are you most proud of?
I really like the finished look of the butterfly. Having designed a pattern for a monarch caterpillar, I just had to make a butterfly to go with it.
It is also quite a cool pattern: as you can either knit a 3-D butterfly like mine for a toy or mobile, or if you want to knit a applique butterfly, perhaps to decorate a bag or hairband, there are also instructions for this.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Although the embroidery on the butterfly's wings is not too complicated: chain stitch and french knots, I would only embark on this projects if you like to combine a bit of knitting and a bit of stitching.
