Mom's quilt

Flower Close-up

Pattern Info

Pattern info for this project can be found here:
Plaid Poppies from String Quilts by Elsie M. Campbell

Instructions

I used quilting fabric instead of flannel fabrics. I chose white on white and wine/hunter values.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Classic, Romantic, Traditional

Materials

100% cotton quilting fabric, cut into strips 1" - 3" in width. Strip quilting is time consuming, but the results are beautiful.

What was your inspiration?

Something to brighten up the wall in my Parents' front room that pulled mom's colors together.

What are you most proud of?

This is a wall quilt that can easily convert into a lap quilt.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make it your own and choose any palet that you like.

Brilliant colour choice! I love your quilt very much! Thank you for sharing! You write that your "wall quilt that can easily convert into a lap quilt". How did you do that? Did you make a fabric sleeve for the pole it hangs on? Could you explain, please? I'm making a quilt for my little niece at the moment, and I want it to be able to convert from a wall hanging to a crib quilt.

Love the poppies. They always seem so perky and the long stems are fascinating how they don't bend. Lovely work.

I have always loved poppies and my mom who passed away a few years ago always loved flowers. I hope to make this a wallhanging that will brighten up my walls and bring many smiles of remembrance.

Mothers Day is a sad day for me as I was unable to have children and my mother passed away 20 years ago. However, your poppies brought a smile to my face. Mama had poppies lining her long driveway. I will have to make this in honor of mama. Thank you for my smile and good memory.
