Acrylic, nylon, wool blend yarn

What was your inspiration?

A request was made for an owl hat, and I looked up pictures online of real owls and I loved the different blends of colors owls have.

What are you most proud of?

The thickness, soft feel, and warmth of this hat.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Pull your ideas and colors from nature, and go from there. The pink owl isn't realistic, but it's fun. :)

Thank you, I did find the yarn and made an Owl hat. It was such a big hit that I now have 3 more to make for friends. You're right, it's all about the yarn!!!

Is there a pattern link for this hat? I have a friend with a baby who LOVES owls, I would love to make this hat for her. I've seen other patterns, but this one is much cuter!!

It's all in the yarn! Do you have a Joann's nearby? Their exclusive Sensations line has a yarn called Angel Hair, and the black/beige/white stripes is what I pair with Lion Brand Jiffy or another fuzzy/soft bulky weight yarn. I use an Angel Hair yarn for every owl hat I make-- it gives the hat its softness and feather-like look. I'd be glad to write up a quick pattern, it's pretty simple, especially if you've made hats before.
