Used up some stash wool I found in a thrift shop. the yarn is a mohair (65%) SOFIL (discontinued) I had a pattern from an old craft magazine that I loosely followed. This one caused some grief as I ended up sliding a crochet needle through my nailbed and impaled myself. You could say this shawl was made with blood sweat and tears. It looks absulotely beautiful on. The ruffle on the bottom is a glorious mistake by using an edge pattern that is really knitted lengthwise rather than sideways. Oh well, another lesson learned. Hope you like it.

What was your inspiration?

Like I said I saw a photo in a craft magazine and just had to have it. The yarn just asked to be made into a nice lovely accessory.

What are you most proud of?

This shawl caused a bit of grief. I used interlocking needles that came apart several time toward the end. I think the weight of the project just unlocked the wires. This was incredibly frustrating as I was always in a pattern making picking up stritches more difficult. Then I also had that mishap with my crocket hook, pushing the beads through.... so this one if for me! It just looks so gorgeous on and can be worn in any season.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just do it and play around with different stitch patterns.. I used a pattern book for the lace stitches I put into the project. So use your imagination and dont over complicate.

This is gorgeous. Probably even worth the pain and suffering!

thanks. You cant see it in the photo, but there is a design of an inverted star shape between the ruffle border and lace work.
