What materials did you use? I had fallen in love with The Farmer's Wife Quilts I had seen all over pinterest. I found a link to a designer for her Farmer's Wife Quilt Revival. I purchased the lessons and today I thought I would do a test of a couple of blocks. I want to make a modern, crisp retro vintage style and thought I would try a layout which suited my style more than the on point layout which is traditionally done. My test results are the two blocks. My score is "yes" I have decided that I will use the trellis layout. I started another group to work through each of Karen Walker's lessons as a Quilt Along we begin in 2014 - 2015. Nice! Are you using new hand positions and rotary cutting techniques, Scheri?

Yes, I use am. Not interested in using templates. Karen's lessons make it so much easier.

I now have the Spock Hand automatically now! This class has made the most difference in my results. Without proper cutting techniques everything is all askew. Thanks!

Wow, I just started this same FQ class. I love your colors for sashing and setting idea so much. Not only does it look nice and it makes each block stand out more -I see a much better benefit (for me!)..... By adding the extra white then grey border, it does not matter if my FW block is very slightly under 6 1/2 !!! I could just make sure the white border is cut a determined size! GENIUS !!! Out of my 1st 6 blocks and several unpickings I still have one only 6 1/4. I was going to redu it (and have a large selection of pretty mug rugs I thought by the end of the class. I am seriously going to think about your layout. Thanks.
