Mobius Shawl pg 20 of Learn New Stitches on Circle Looms by Anne Bipes
Instructions
I have made several of these with different yarns. I took the basic idea and changed the basic stitch pattern. The one shown in the picture is using an alternating cable stitch: knit, purl, knit, cable, knit, purl, knit, cable, etc. I usually put 2 different yarns together for a unique look; sometimes in the same color scheme, or of a contrasting color. What was your inspiration?
I love the idea of wearing a shawl without having to constantly hold onto it. The Mobius Shawl idea is casual or classy and allows for hands free to work at a desk in a cold office, eat out in a restaurant that is too cool, go to the theater; never worry about it falling off. It can also be pulled up on top of the head and used to keep the head warm if you are in cold weather, and then drop it back down to the shoulders once inside.
What are you most proud of?
I have made several of these; all different designs and colors. Everyone loves them and wears them often.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Start simple when doing this for the first time. If you have never used a round loom, no worries, they are easy to use. You can also make this free hand and connect the ends together in a mobius twist to your desired length. Be creative with colors and yarn types.
