This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
The Machine Embroidered Quilt »

Instructions

I made the best of all my mistakes and finished a quilt that is useful.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Charity

Style: Casual

Materials

Cotton fabric, poly batting,

What was your inspiration?

I use what I have in my stash and what I like.

What are you most proud of?

The project is certainly unique. I learned from making it. I'm glad to have made use of it in spite of mistakes in reproducing the original pattern.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

You had better listen closely to the video sessions, and be careful that you stitch out the embroidery patterns before working on the real project.

I've just finished watching the videos and I think after seeing your post and what I saw on the videos, I think I'm going to start small with some place mats using the individual designs, coasters using the individual border design and a table runner using two long strips as Eileen showed on the video. I was thinking Christmas colours with the wave and decorative thread? I love the way you've made a very useful piece from "mistakes"! Personally I don't believe in mistakes it's being unique and creative resulting in something loved and beautiful!

Looks better from afar. Please don't zoom and see all my many mistakes!

Machine embroidery can be challenging! I think your advice for stitching a sample of the design is important for all embroiderers. Printing a template of a design can also help tremendously because you can 'see' the design in actual size without taking a stitch. Great job on selecting fabrics from your stash. Thank you for sharing your project.

My quilt group is lenient when it comes to mistakes, we are very critical on ourselves, but when the group sees a quilt, regardless of mistakes, they always add, "It's fine, beautiful, and no one will see anything from a galloping horse?"
