Marjorie - a scale is one of the best tools you can have in the kitchen. Weighing the dough so that all the loaves are the same size is one of the tricks to a great bake and a really 'professional' look to the finished loaves. Ask Santa to get you a scale that has the display panel offset a little bit (as opposed to flat on the top of the scale) so you can read the weight when you have a plate with a dough ball on the scale. i.e. something like this one... http://www.kingarthurflour.com/shop/items/escali-digital-scale-chrome?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=CPC&utm_campaign=Shopping&utm_keyword=King+Arthur+Flour+Escali+Digital+Scale+-+Chrome&gclid=CLOGu8e2qLsCFepaMgodT1gAOA
