This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Quilting Quickly II: Patterns, Techniques & Tips »

Instructions

I followed Jenny Doan's guidelines for the charm pack table runner with one exception--I used some leftover jelly roll strips and cut them into 2 1/2" squares. This mug rug took 17 mini charm squares.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Casual, Retro / Vintage, Cute, Funky

Materials

Mod Century by Jenn Ski for Moda, Heriloom Low Loft Batting, Unbleached Muslin for Backing

What was your inspiration?

First I made a table runner of fruits and vegetables. After its completion, I pondered the idea of making placemats with the same pattern only shorter--placemat size. That led to the question, "Why can't you make it out of smaller blocks?" You can!

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of using what I have on hand and having it turning into something useable.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Go scrappy! Get into that scrap bag and get to cutting out the same size blocks. Lay them out Jenny's way and it will be adorable!

Makes me happy just to look at it. Beautiful balance--the hardest part of "going scrappy".
