Tell us more about what inspired you. I have always loved hand embroidery and when I saw this book by Di van Niekerk, Ribbon Embroidery and Stumpwork, I just had to give it a try. Even though I had a hard time finding the ribbon and there were some that I couldn't find in my area, I did some substitution on my own.

What are you most proud of? I love the completed project. Just to know that I was able to conquer some stitches that I had never tried. Some stitches I had never used, but I just took my time and followed her stitch instructions and it was easy. You just have to make it your own. Which I did.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Be calm. Take your time. If you rush you will get upset and have to rip out the stitches. If you get frustrated, get up and walk away. Come back to it when you are calm.

Beautiful Dianne! Just last week I placed my order for this panel from Di. Am very much looking forward to the challenge of learning stumpwork and stitches I don't know. Love how you made the piece entirely your own. Thank you for sharing your work.

Sorry it has taken me this long to reply but I don't get on here that often...as you can tell. I didn't even order the panel. I just traced the pattern on the fabric using my light box. Note...I kept my fabric in a hoop in my quilting stand...so as to make sure that no dirt got on the project...I covered it up with Press n Seal. It stuck to the edges of the hoop and protected the project. Looking forward to seeing your project.
