Instructions

From American Patchwork and quilting Feb 2012.
I used fabric from my stash. I am hoping to drastically reduce the size of my stash before I allow myself to purchase anymore. But it seems like I have hardly made a dent in it and have done three full size bed quilts so far. Looks like there are many more projects to be made from my stash.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Traditional

Materials

100% cotton fabrics from my stash, 80/20 quilt batting.

What was your inspiration?

am always inspired when I look through my monthly quilting magazines. And I am trying to use up fabric I already own, so when I see a pattern that I can adapt using my stash I cut it out and save it. I also like quilts with white background fabric. This one used up the last of my white yardage.

What are you most proud of?

I completed the blocks in about a month. It is loaded onto the quilting frame to begin the quilting. Probably take me another couple of months to complete. But I just work on it when I am inspired. I am sure in a few weeks I will be devoting more time to it, because I will be tired of looking at the frame sitting in the sun room.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Watch your triangles, I had to un-stitch and replace the corner triangles in several blocks because I had placed them in the wrong direction. Some of the strips were cut using my "go baby" fabric cutter. But most of the pieces were done manually. My granddaughter was over ( 11years old) this week and she said "gramma there is something wrong with your quilt" She said I repeated too many fabrics in the top. That I should have used all different fabrics, and she didn't like my choice for the border. So I guess she won't be getting this one when it is done. She wants one in blacks and whites with lime green accents.

This is the first quilt I have hand quilted in a long time. That is how I used to finish all my projects.. And just felt like this piece was screaming "hand quilt me"
