What was your inspiration?
It was a mermaid and pirates themed birthday, mostly girls, however the majority of the attendees would be little 6 year old girls.
What are you most proud of?
I love painting and drawing on cakes.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Mermaid was made of fondant/tylose. I used an extruder for the hair, painted the map then lightly airbrushed. The second tier is covered in brown/black fondant and used slightly stiffer buttercream for the seaweed and water effect.
