What was your inspiration?
My MIL asked me to make a wall hanging for her friend who also happens to be her manicurist. My MIL took me to her shop a couple times to have me have a pedicure. While I was there I noticed all the fake nails and the little circle with the nail polish choices. I had decided at first to go more geometric on my shapes but when I was cutting the pieces they came out more organic instead. The bottom bits I wanted to look more like dripping nail polish or the melting clocks from a Salvador Dali painting!
What are you most proud of?
That I was able to get the pieces cut to fit with a little space running through it. I think I second guessed myself the whole time I was putting together this project and I was well pleased when I heard about the reaction of my MIL's friend.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Use parchment paper and a piece of quilting chalk to trace out the shape you want to cut before you actually cut you fabric.
