What was your inspiration?
Trying to use up my stash, and I have a lot of pregnant friends right now so I used a palette I thought would work for a baby quilt.
What are you most proud of?
That I managed to make do with what I had - it was pretty close on both thread and fabric for the backing. Also this is the first quilt that I tried to block. Since it was small I had enough space, but think it will take a few more to get it down pat. Also used a different spray basting method and finally got the tension on the back right.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I did a more structured fabric choosing method than Elizabeth. I took each stack of pieces and pulled a different number of pieces to the back. The A stack I left alone, the B stack I moved the top fabric to the bottom, the C stack I moved the top 2 to the bottom... And so on. Then I put them in the baggies and just sewed them in order, this allowed me to always have one of each fabric in each block without thinking too much.
Also, one of my pink fabrics - the large circles - had too much contrast with the other pinks - lost a little bit of the desired effect because of this.
