What was your inspiration?
I needed a dress for an outdoor wedding. My inspiration was Modcloth's Wrapped Up in Beauty dress. It didn't come in my size, plus it was a true wrap dress. I decided to make my own version of a coral mock-wrap dress with an asymmetrical hem.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the fact that I used the fitting information I learned from Susan Khalje's The Couture Dress to get a really good fit on this dress. I'm also proud of my first time using a stretch needle and 4-way stretch fabric. Oh, and the pattern alteration work to take a pencil skirt to a twirly assymetrical hem. What advice would you give someone starting this project?
This is a super easy pattern - just watch out for the really low neckline. I raised my neckline 2 inches and still had a really good view of my bra all night.
