Geia sou Vespa, I live in Glyfada, at the other end of Athens. Middle June however we usually move to our country house in Chalkoutsi (near Oropos) until end September. Since the busstop for the airport is only 3 minutes from my home I visit IKEA on and off in search of something interesting from time to time.
Oooo! Very nice Vespa! I wouldn't worry about it being off center. It will fit as a wonky block. You can add more strips if it's not 12.5" yet. Love the center and your colors.
hello micailia and surfside 6. thanks a lot for your comments! yes the fabric is from IKEA and you are right, i have used for many different reasons!! and ofcourse it's the same with the backing of crazy daisy. well i don't remember the name but if there is an IKEA near you you will surely find it.
michailia i live in vrilissia what about you?
Vespa, if you have a chance, please look at the pictures in the "projects" for a bright colorful all one shape quilt called Crazy Daisy. The quilter is "idrivera", I think. On one of her pictures, she has a sliver of the backing and I swear it's the same as your wonderful block. Am I right? Do you know the name? It's a pattern that will go with so many things. I love it.
Hi Vespa, I love this block. Looks so very nice with the little bird caged in. Actually the birdie fabric looks like one I bought last summer from IKEA. I had bought it to make curtains for my daughter and it is very good quality. Also want to thank you for welcoming me to the BOM and I wonder where in Athens do you live? Would you care to let me know? Michailia 5/5/12
BUT.....it's adorable. I am not going to make my wonky. If mine is crooked, it's because I had a crooked seam or two! I like yours a lot. I just saw another quilt on the project pages that I swear had a back of the same fabic with the black, green, white. It only showed a sliver of the back, but I thought the print was adorable. Now I have to go research it again. I think the front was all hexagons in many colors, so I should be able to find it okay. Meanwhile, keep up the good work
