Sewing Machine 911 »

Instructions

Watch this video and give your machines the much needed TLC.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Other

Style: Traditional, Eco-Friendly

Materials

Various sizes of paint brushes. Machine Oil Screwdrivers Scrap Fabrics

What was your inspiration?

I watched this video and made notes in my machine manuals. I just recently was tackling a sewing project in which I was finally going to use all my machines. My Baby Lock Decorators Choice Model BLDC2,, Baby Lock Imagine Serger Model BLE1AT-2 and my Janome Cover Stitch 1000CPX.

My Sewing Machine was acting ...diffrent and sounded diffrent so I tought I would try a tune up.

What are you most proud of?

I did it I tuned up my sewing machine and serger and whipped up a beautiful pattern.

Now I am ready for sewing all my fall and winter projects.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Listen to this video. Make notes in your machine manuals. Then next time you think your machine is just not right.....refer back to class and your manuals and give it a go. Save downtime on your machines and save $$$$.

Very nice sewing room! I have a question for you.... I live in Manitoba.....I find that the resources for sewing are quite limited here, and having things mailed from the States is expensive. How do you find your way around this? Thanks,

No way around but have found sometimes cheaper even with fees than purchasing locally

Jill I think if you already have a serger you have mastered take a look at getting the CoverPro CPX 1000. Then you can master each of your machines and the techniques you like and use for each. When they are all set-up and waiting it makes working on a project easier.

Scheri...very nice set-up you've got there!! Now I see how you're able to crank out so many amazing projects!! :-) I'm currently on the fence about buying the 1000CPX. I use my Janome Horizon 7700QCP for most of my sewing projects (I'm embarrassed to say how many other or vintage machines sit around patiently waiting for attention lol)

Oops...silly add comment button! In addition to that I've been using the janome magnolia 7034D serger my dealer threw in when I bought the 7700. It's not enough, obviously. My question is do you thin it makes more sense to go with the 1000CPX and forget about upgrading my serger right now? I love the free-arm feature and I use my sever

Seeger so often the idea if switching more than thread to coverstitch does seem like just a lot more work for me and time wasted. How do you like the cover pro? I do sew a lot of knits. I, not happy with the price my dealer is offering either and wonder if you could suggest a reasonable range for the machine if possible?

Very nice set-up you have :) I bought an opal 670 last night. SUPER excited! I purchased the viking emerald 118 last week but upgraded to the viking Opal 670. The Emerald is awesome, but I wanted all the stitches the Opal has. My serger is still in the box....but I 'll get to it soon. Having too much fun!!! :)

I have a Janome Coverlock and Overlock and the MC5200 and I love them all. I wish my sewing room would look as clean as yours. I got an introduction with my serger and I learned a lot and forgot a lot but threading was never a problem. But a baby lock would be perfect. Greetings from Germany.

I just ordered the 8 thread Babylock Evolution and am soooo excited (my hubby bought it for me for my birthday coming up in October. I've bought it unseen and untested but after some extensive online research as I live in a remote mining town. Now just have to wait for my new baby to arrive. As for a sewing machine I have two. The one I have with me is a Viking Emerald and I have one in storage which is a Janome Memorycraft along with my old faithful serger which is about 15 years old and it's an Elna.

I recently purchased a Pfaff Creative vision. It is a wonderful machine with a lot of capability but I am trouble learning all there is to it.

My first machine did that and it turns out that somehow the tension had been turned as tight as it would go. I was afraid the machine was locked up and would have to be thrown out. As soon as I adjusted the tension (in trying to troubleshoot and find out what might be wrong I also cleaned and oiled it thoroughly which probably didn't hurt) back to a normal setting it worked just fine. Just something you might want to check.

umm don't have advice other than perhaps remove thread from bobbib case and machine. check the bobbin case to make sure no thread is caught holding it from feeding

The cover on the thread is made of a very soft, flexible plastic netting. This allows the thread to come off the thread cone freely while you surge and at the same time keeps the thread from unraveling from the cone. helps to prevent tangling :)
