Marimekko skirt!

Pattern Info

McCall's M5591 »

Instructions

I used 'version A' of the pattern

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Mod, Classic

Materials

approx. 2 yards Marimekko fabric, zipper, thread

What was your inspiration?

I bought this fabric while I was in Finland (it's available in the US, but it seemed like such a classic-ly Finnish souvenir!). I've made this skirt a couple of times, and I absolutely love the pattern because it has pockets!

What are you most proud of?

I just love the skirt! I wear it all the time! (as is evident by the photo.... lots of wrinkles :) )

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just go for it! It doesn't take more than a couple of hours with a sewing machine.

I love the vivid Marimekko textile designs, How fun to have been able to buy your fabric while in Finland. You are right. With your handiwork, it is the quintessential Finnish souvenir and a very pretty one.
